Fun with the Kiwi Accent
These are words that are funny to say with the Kiwi accent:
American word=New Zealand pronunciation
wicked=weekay(t)
air=eeyah (pronounced almost like "ear")
Raw = roar
1-2-3=one-toe-thray
7:30 p.m. = Seevuhn thuhty pee-ehyum
Turn Left = tuhn leeft
Galoshes/rain boots = gum boots
fish and chips=fush en chups
cool=coo (with a lot of the "w" sound at the end)
www=dubdubdub
nz=en-zed
heartbreak=hotbreck
Sweaty=sweety
Paihia=Pie-hee-yah (not Pie-thay-ah, as the guy in the Mobil gas station told us)

Check out the map of our route... we are basically moving from north to south the entire time. You can zoom in or out, and if you click on one of the blue pins, you can see why we're making a stop in that town! (This took me seriously 2 hours to figure out how to do, so even if it's not that cool, just humor me...)

Have a blast you two. Well deserved celebration vacation. Be sure to check out this website http://www.emigratenz.org/ReallyAndTruly.html which provides interesting facts about New Zealand. One says New Zealanders drink way less than those in other countries. Do your best to change that fact!
